The Chicago Area Rugby Football Union Referee Society is the local referee organization (LRO) serving the greater Chicagoland area (including northwest Indiana) and other parts of Illinois.

CARFU Referee Society exists to:

• Referee rugby in the Chicago Area, ensuring the safety and fairness of the sport
• Work with the Chicago Area Rugby Football Union (CARFU) to promote referees and the recruitment of new referees
• Develop, improve, disseminate, and encourage the use of standardized techniques for rugby refereeing
• Foster cooperation and improve relationships between rugby referees and the clubs within CARFU and the Midwest.
