This Saturday at noon, we are invited to attend a day of development with Kenosha Mammoths and the NW Woodsmen. The players will have practice in the morning, and join us for a Lunch & Learn before scrimmages in the afternoon.
We are looking for Referees and Coaches to attend Saturday. Please email Dawn by Thursday EOD if you plan on attending. There is no cap, the more the merrier.
We are looking for referees that are interested in getting a run in with coaching instruction. If you are newer to refereeing or if you are looking to develop your game, this is a great opportunity for you to work with a coach and really focus on areas you want to improve. If you have the chops to be an educator or coach, this is also a good opportunity for you to assist on the sideline with the players that are running the touch line.
| 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm | Lunch & AR / Touch Judge refresher |
| 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm | Scrimmage (10 min increments) |
| 3:00 pm onward | Optional dip in the lake, and social at the Tipsy Kiwi |
During lunch, Martin will be going over the role of the AR and providing instruction to the players so they can be smarter Touch Judges. The basis of instruction will be on positioning and kicking law possession, and law Q&A with the players if time allows.
Starting at 1:30pm, the two teams will scrimmage. The plan is to scrimmage for 80 minutes but doing so in 10 minute increments so the teams can debrief for a minute or two before going into the next 10 minute increment. This may flex depending on the day. Players who are not playing in the scrimmage will be testing out what they learned running touch.
Not only is this a great opportunity to get in a run or test your coaching abilities, it is a chance to build rapport with players and coaches. Refereeing can be lonely and intimidating, this is an opportunity to help overcome these challenges too. That said, we hope to see you in the lake and later for a drink at the Tipsy Kiwi!
Happy reffing!
