March 12th: L1 Introduction to Officiating Course

The CARFU Referee Society will be offering a Level 1 Officiating Course on Saturday, March 12th, 2016. Class begins at 8:00am and the course will last to approximately 5:00pm.

Location is the Players Indoor Sports Center, 1740 Quincy Avenue, Naperville, IL. Parking is free. Enter at the main entrance and follow the sign inside to the classroom. There will be practical portions in this course and we will have use of both a classroom and an indoor turf training field. Dress for comfort and gym shoes are recommended (no cleats are allowed on the turf field).

The Level 1 Rugby Refereeing Course is a beginner level course. The course focuses on game knowledge, the role of the referee, planning, preparation, and game & risk management. The purpose of the course is to enable officials to acquire basic skills to safely officiate a rugby game. Referee certification is required for all referees who referee any US match that potentially leads to a national championship.

  3. Select the correct course (3/12/16 – Naperville, IL)
  4. Send email with name, address, and phone to dave@rockriverservice.com
  5. Items needed to attend the course (click on the links below):
    1. CIPP – USAR Membership Number
    2. Course Registration Confirmation
    3. World Rugby, Rugby Ready Certificate
    4. World Rugby Laws Exam Certificate

Course fee with online registration is $60. Only online registration is available; there is no walk in registration. There is an additional $25 site fee that must be paid at the beginning of the class (Checks to CARFU-RS or cash). Registration closes March 2nd. In order to be certified, you must participate and complete all modules of this course.
